    Introduction

In this week’s edition of The Monitor, we’re taking a closer look at some of the latest releases in pop culture. First up, we’ll be discussing Ben Affleck’s new movie “Argo”, which has been getting a lot of buzz lately. We’ll also be talking about a new EP from indie band The Step Kids and the trade edition of an Image comic called “Saga”. So sit back, relax, and let’s dive into the world of pop culture.

    Q&A:

What is the movie “Argo” about, and is it worth seeing?

“Argo” is a movie directed by Ben Affleck and based on a true story that appeared in Wired a few years ago. It tells the story of a group of US embassy workers who were trapped in Tehran after the embassy was stormed during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The CIA sends in an exfiltration specialist, who comes up with a plan to disguise the embassy workers and smuggle them out under the guise of being a film crew scouting locations for a movie. The movie is alternately tense and hilarious, and it features a great supporting cast, including John Goodman and Alan Arkin. Overall, we highly recommend seeing “Argo” – it’s a fantastic film.

Tell us more about the new EP from The Step Kids.

The Step Kids are an indie band signed to Stone’s Throw, and they recently released a new EP called “Sweet Salvation”. The EP features two tracks, “Sweet Salvation” and “Bitter Bug”, as well as a remix of “Sweet Salvation” and an instrumental version. The Step Kids are known for their blue-eyed soul mixed with futuristic fuzz, and they’re insanely listenable and vastly entertaining. If you’re a fan of the Step Kids or just looking for some new music, we definitely recommend giving “Sweet Salvation” a listen.

What can you tell us about the Image comic “Saga”?

“Saga” is an Image comic written by Brian K. Vaughan (known for his work on “Why the Last Man” and “Lost”) and illustrated by Fiona Staples. It tells the story of a couple from opposing sides of a galactic war who fall in love and have a daughter. The series follows their adventures as they try to protect their family and stay one step ahead of their enemies. The first six issues are collected in a trade edition, which is a perfect way to get started with the series if you haven’t read it already. We highly recommend checking out “Saga” – it’s a well-written, beautifully illustrated comic with a great story.
