Rey and BB-8 on Jakku

The trailer opens with a masked character, who we assume is Rey (played by Daisy Ridley), walking across a desert landscape with BB-8, the rolling droid. We can assume that this planet is Jakku, the desert planet.

Han Solo and Rey Meet

The trailer shows Rey and Han Solo meeting up. Rey mentions the stories she has heard about Han’s adventures, and he confirms that they are all true. This suggests that the tales of the original trilogy have been suppressed to some degree, and no one knows for sure whether those events are true or not.

The Old and New Generations

The trailer shows the old and new generations coming together, which is going to be the engine that drives the first installment in the new series of films. We do not see anyone we haven’t seen before, except for a possible glimpse of Domhnall Gleeson’s character Hux during an assemblage of stormtroopers. However, we still have not seen Andy Serkis’ character, Snoke, the Supreme Leader of the First Order.

Missing Characters

One of the biggest questions that everyone seems to be asking is, “Where is Luke Skywalker?” He was not in the trailer, nor was he on the poster. This absence raises many questions about the plot of the movie.

Aerial Combat and the Millennium Falcon

The trailer shows some new aerial combat shots, including a new shot of the Millennium Falcon going through hyperspace. This shot is a bridge between the practical effects of the original trilogy and the new digital effects that they are using in the new movie.

Conclusion

While we do not know if there will be another trailer released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we do know that the movie will be in theaters on December 18th. We cannot wait to see how the old and new generations come together in this highly anticipated film.
