Building the log smash rig

The log smash rig is a pivotal point in the Battle of Endor, and we were excited to build it. However, the process was not without its challenges. Initially, we planned to use string, but we realized that it would not work as we intended. The strings would never line up, and the rig would clip to one side. To solve this problem, we built the rig using PVC coated in Magic Sculp, sculpted the log texture over the PVC, and added a lead pipe to give it more punch. The rig was fragile, and we had to be careful while testing it.

Testing the rig

To test the rig, we used an orange car to see how much we could crush it. We were thrilled to see that the rig worked as intended. It looked like the strings were doing the work, and the log texture was perfect. We tested the rig multiple times and captured the process using GoPros. The final result was a hundred times better than we had anticipated, and we were excited to see it in action, just like in the movies.

Conclusion

Building and testing the log smash rig was a challenging but rewarding experience. We were able to simulate the smashing of the AT-S in the Battle of Endor and capture the process on camera. The log smash rig is a testament to the creativity and innovation that goes into making movies and bringing fictional worlds to life.
