Gears of War Judgement by People Can Fly
Gears of War Judgement, the first entry in the third-person shooter series developed by People Can Fly, was released on March 19 for Xbox 360. This prequel gives players a new perspective on the series’ storyline.
Walking Dead Survival Instinct by Activision
For those who prefer killing zombies to locusts, Activision released Walking Dead Survival Instinct for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on March 19. Note that this is not the critically acclaimed adventure game that was Wired’s Game of the Year in 2012. This is a first-person shooter take on the popular TV show. Activision has not yet allowed anyone to play it, so it is impossible to say whether or not it is worth buying.
LEGO City Undercover by Nintendo
LEGO City Undercover, released on March 18, is like a Grand Theft Auto for kids. It is a clever open-world game, but may be a little too hand-holdy and easy for adults. Steven Totillo at Kotaku played through it and gave his review.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate by Capcom
Capcom delivered Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on March 19. Players can hunt down giant creatures online with friends on Wii U or locally with the 3DS. There’s also cross-play, so if you have both systems in the same room, you can team up. Additionally, you can transfer your saved game data between the two systems.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon by Nintendo
On March 24, Nintendo released two new 3DS games: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, a combination of dungeon hacking and pocket monsters, is back with Gates to Infinity, and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, where players explore a series of haunted houses, tracking down ghosts and sucking them up into a vacuum.
Ridiculous Fishing for iPhone and iPad
Finally, from the amazing indie developers who brought you games like Super Crate Box and Spell Tower, comes Ridiculous Fishing. It is a very fun and creative fishing game that only costs $2.99. If you only spend $3 on video gaming this week, spend it on Ridiculous Fishing.
Conclusion
March 2013 was a great time for gamers, with a variety of exciting new releases across multiple platforms. Whether you’re into third-person shooters, first-person shooters, open-world games, or handheld games, there was something for everyone.
