Battle Testing the Toughest Action Cam: GoPro vs Sony vs Contour
Summary
In this article, we pit the fully closed GoPro against two of its biggest competitors, Sony and Contour, to see which action cam is truly the toughest. We test the cameras by dropping them and checking which ones are still recording and if the footage actually works. The results show that GoPro is the toughest among the three, but we question whether it was cruel to make the cameras film other cameras being destroyed.

Introduction
Last season, we had fun battle testing a GoPro camera without its case, and some viewers were unhappy about it. So, we decided to pit a fully closed GoPro against two of its biggest competitors, Sony and Contour, to see which action cam is truly the toughest. GoPro currently dominates the action cam market, but Sony and Contour are trying to get in on the action with some competitive, cheaper cameras.
Testing the Action Cams
We dropped the action cams to see which ones would survive. The Contour and Sony cameras were not looking good after the drop, and the files from the actual impact seemed corrupted and couldn’t be played. On the other hand, the GoPro was still recording after the drop, and the file did play, although there was some stuttering. We were disappointed that the action cams didn’t take much action, and it seems there’s a reason why GoPro is number one.
Results of the Test
The results of the test showed that GoPro is the toughest among the three action cams. However, we decided to spike the GoPro like a football to see if it could withstand even more damage. The camera did a break dancing move and took a hit, but it still put up a fight. The footage of the spike was cool, but we questioned whether it would still work.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we found that GoPro is the toughest action cam among the three we tested. However, we question whether it was cruel to make the cameras film other cameras being destroyed. What do you think of our results? Let us know in the comments.
